Thoughtful stitches welcome

Help test a patternbefore it leaves the cottage.

Pattern testers help make every Totally Hooked design clearer, friendlier and ready for another crocheter’s hook. If you enjoy amigurumi, careful notes and a little creative teamwork, Barb would love to learn more about you.

Applications are kept on file for upcoming tester calls.
Pattern tester application

Tell Barb about yourself

A few questions before we begin.

Please answer as openly as you can. Applying does not guarantee a place in every test—Barb will choose a small group whose experience, schedule and yarn access suit each project.

01 About you
02 Experience and skills

What is your level of crochet experience?

Have you tested crochet patterns before?

Are you comfortable using US crochet terms and working in continuous rounds?

03 Availability and commitment

Can you commit to the deadline given for a tester call?

Can you obtain the required yarn and supplies before testing begins?

Can you send clear progress and finished photos?

04 Feedback and communication

Are you comfortable giving honest feedback about clarity, stitch counts and accuracy?

Tester communication takes place in one private Instagram group chat.

Every tester can share corrections, clarifications and updates there so the entire team receives the same information at the same time and everything stays together in one place.

Can you join and regularly check the private Instagram tester chat?

If something is unclear, are you comfortable asking questions promptly?

05 Social media and sharing

Are you willing to share finished photos after the pattern is released?

Can you keep the pattern and project private until Barb gives permission to share?

May Barb feature your finished photo in the “Made by Our Testers” website showcase, with the maker name and crochet account you approve?

Saying no will not affect your application. Barb will confirm the exact photo and credit with you before anything is published.
